William L. (Billy/Willie) Antero
AGE: 84 • Tuscaloosa, AL
William L. (Billy/Willie) Antero, formerly of Boonton and Rockaway, New Jersey, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, following a courageous battle to overcome a stroke. He was 84. He was a loyal, loving husband, grandfather, father and brother. Bill was the person who brightened your day whenever you saw him. He was funny beyond words, passionate about all things dear to him, especially his cars. Billy was a "Boonton guy." He worked at Van Raalte Inc. for many years as a truck driver, then took a position with the Town of Boonton Parking Authority in 1973. As a part of his job he was also a Special Police Officer
with the Boonton Police Department. He loved being associated with the Boonton Police, and he enjoyed being downtown every day with the store-owners and his buddies at the barber shop. Billy will be best remembered by his family as the helper with the innovative ideas and the guy who loved a clean, sparkling car. Whether it was volunteering at a PBA golf outing, a home improvement project with his son or brother-in-law or helping out in his daughter's office you could count on him to be there till the end and work as hard, if not harder, than anyone else. Affectionately known by his grandchildren as "the Pop, Popper or Poppy" he will always be remembered by them as caring, loving and hysterically funny.
Survivors include his loving and always caring wife of 57 years, Patricia Anne (Coughlin); his son, Rick and his wife, Karen of Greendell, NJ; his daughter, Patricia Mary and her husband Bruce Freeman of Tuscaloosa, Ala; his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) and her husband Tony of Boonton; his grandchildren, Lisa and Kevin Antero and Gina, Michael and William Ferro.
After a beautiful ceremony Bill was interned at Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery, Skylands Blvd. Tuscaloosa Ala.
