William Thomas Cousins died on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital/Denville. He was 82. Born and raised in Jersey City, he lived in Rockaway Borough for 50 years. He served in the Army as a plain clothes MP, working as a bodyguard for Gen. MacArthur. Mr. Cousins was a local manager with NJ Bell in Morristown for 40 years before retiring in 1991. He was a parishioner of St. Cecilia's Church in Rockaway and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He served past-Chief of the Rockaway Borough Fire Dept, and was a former Little League and Midget football coach. Mr. Cousins was an avid fan of the NY Giants, NY Yankees and the Morris Hills Knights Football teams, and he also enjoyed deep sea fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia; two sons: William T. Cousins and wife Sondra, of Stafford Twp., Scott M. Cousins and wife Nancyann of Ladysmith, VA; his daughter, Janine O'Reilly and husband Thomas of Byram; two brothers: Richard and Michael Cousins; his sister, Gail Cousins; and eight grandchildren: Tabytha, William III, Keara, Scott, Emma, Brenna, Aidan and Sarah.

Funeral services will begin on Weds. Jan 8th at 9:15 AM from the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway to a funeral Mass celebrated at St. Cecilia's Church, Rockaway at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
