Memories of my cousin Sharon.
"Sharon the Cowgirl, and how Gypsy Brought her home, way too fast..."
Sharon knew how to handle a
horse, no question about that. She rode in a mounted group which included our cousin Deanna. Together they made public appearances for parades and other events, along with a number of other lady horseback riders. They rode for Frank Matt's Stables in Woodland Hills, CA. I believe the name of the group was "The Rangerettes." Cousin Sharon's horse, "Gypsy", was a bay mare with a littl spunk, and knew how to move her feet, even when not expected.
One day, Sharon was riding Gypsy home from Deanna's home and Gypsy decided they were not going fast enough. So Gypsy took advantage of Sharon dropping one rein, and took off, headed for home at a dead run. Sharon was holding on for dear life, trying to stop Gypsy, but having no luck. Gypsy took Sharom through busy intersections, down the middle of streets, around corners that the average rider would have fallen off, under tree branches, through the front gate, directly to her stall in the back of the property!
My parent were aghast! I was crying and Sharon was laughing, saying, "Wow, what a ride!" (my parents were instantly worried because this is the same horse that their baby daughter (me) rode every night just to get vegetables don my throat!) Gypsy never did that again and I think Sharon tied her reins together so it wouldn't happen! Sharon was the bravest person I knew in those days - she was my horse hero!!
Love you Sharon forever!

Susan and Luke - Mom's Great GrandChild

My dear mother loved her three daughters very much, me Susan, Terri and Gail. We were her life as Mom was from Southern California and had no family here. Mom enjoyed going to Granpa Luigi's house to listen to him speak Italian, cousin Frank play the accordion, and watch all of us little Italian cousins running around after each other in Bernardsville, little Italy. Mom especially took much pleasure in taking her three daughters to California every other Summer to visit her family; traveling by plane, train, car and even once by bus which took 7 days. I remember Mom saying she would never go by bus from Newark to LA again because it was too hot, long and smelly! Mother loved to read, dance, swim in the pacific ocean. Most of all she cherished her horse backriding as a teenager. She had her won horse, a spunky mare named Gypsy and entered her in shows and events in California. When I was child of 3 years old I started worrying about some things and Mom would always say to me, "Don't worry honey, everything always works out with prayers and faith in Jesus."
Of course I am very sad my mom has left this earth but then again I have peace and joy because I know that she is with our Lord whom she told me about when I was a little girl. I also learned more about Jesus as I was brought to Sunday School by my mom every Sunday. Yes, Jesus - The Messiah who came to rescue us from our sins and those who will recive Him will have eternal life. You see, God is the loving ruler of the world. He made all of creation. He made us rulers of the world under Him. God is perfect, holy and righteous. He cannot stand for any sin. BUT we reject God by trying to run life our own way WITHOUT Him and we fail at this. Every single one of us has either cheated, stolen, committed adultery, lied or committed other sins. WE ARE GUILTY BEFORE GOD. God won't let us rebel against Him forever. God's punishment for sin is death and judgment. Therefore, the only thing left to do is come to the CROSS to be delivered from the wrath of God. this is why Jesus came to earth. This is what the GOSPEL is about - The Good News of Salvation.
ROMANS 10: 9&10 reads: If you con fess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

I will always treasure my memories of and time with Grandma Sharon. Her home was one of the very few stable places in my life and I will always remember it as warm, loving, inviting, bright and happy; a place where I could just be myself. And that was all because of who Grandma was--a very loving, genuine and content person. She was such a good listener; she really cared about what others had to say and therefore, made you feel welcome and that your thoughts and concerns really mattered. I will miss her tremendously and I will be so happy to see her in God's Kingdom one day. I know that she trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour and that she just loved God's Word. When I was a little girl, I used to love sitting at her corner table just to draw with all of her colorful assortment of pens and markers. Grandma loved pretty colors and frequently had her kitchen repainted many times. Her wardrobe was colorful and filled with lovely floral patterns and such. She also liked to have an assortment of colorful sheets. The dresser in her room along with her kitchen cabinets were filled with her sweet notes and daily reminders. She and I used to put puzzles together when I was younger; we would sit and just talk or simply sit in silence and enjoy 'the day' at her kitchen table or outside in the front yard. What great joy that was--just to spend quality time together. She consistently had animals in her care, such as a duck(s), a cat named Snowball, and mostly dogs. The 3 dogs I remember best were Toby, Pugnacious (Puggy), and Care Bear. Her eyes always had a loving sparkle in them--like a reflection or glimpse of Heaven, and her company was greatly cherished by many people. What a blessing it is for her to have seen 4 of her Great Grandchildren (Christian, Vanessa, Luke and Shane), and I am so glad that my wonderful husband, Patrick got to meet her as well. "I love you Grandma ('Mama') Sharon so much. I love you and I know that I will see you again in Heaven. I know that Grandpa Frankie is so overjoyed to have you finally with him again. Please watch for me and all of my family when we enter God's Kingdom one day, so that we can once again enjoy all of our company together eternally. I remember the special picture of Jesus in your room, and I know that He is with you. Your strong faith in Christ has always been inspiring and has helped me in my own walk with the Lord. God Bless you, my beautiful and very special Grandma Sharon."
