Anthony "Zeke" DeVincenzo Obituary
Anthony "Zeke" DeVincenzo

AGE: 66 • Boonton

Anthony DeVincenzo, 66, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013, at his home in Boonton, NJ, with his wife, brother and family members by his side after conceding to cancer. Born Labor Day, September 1, 1947, Zeke inherited his father's nickname and his love for baseball. He graduated from Orange High School in 1966 where he was recognized for many outstanding baseball achievements. Zeke will best be remembered for his love of his wife, family and many friends, God, country and community. He was also known for his meticulous record-keeping and organizational skills. He lived a full, loving and dignified life.

He was a proud and honored member of the Madison Police Department for 36 years who, for the last 20 years, served as a Lieutenant, retiring on April 1, 2008. He was named Morris County Detective of the year in 1986. His badge number -'67' stood for more than his commitment, a number he valued everyday. Before entering law enforcement, he was employed at Automatic Switch Company in Florham Park, and was a record breaker for the Morris County Fast Pitch Industrial League in 1970. After retirement, his passion for his career provided him a hobby of preserving Madison police history. Most recently, he had joined Sentinel Security at the CIT Building in Livingston.

Zeke is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Elizabeth (nee Mariani), his brother, Donald, of East Hanover and in-laws, Donna and Tom Feulner, Phyllis, Anthony, Maria Bevacqua, James and Erin Brady, Margaret, Michael and Robert. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends. Zeke was pre-deceased by his mother and father, Mildred Violette and Anthony.

A Funeral Mass for Zeke will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting will be on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 1-4 & 6-9pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. Donations can be made to the Madison Police History, 62 Kings Road, Madison, NJ 07940.
