Brian Francis Doig

AGE: 56 • Oak Ridge

Brian Francis Doig, 56, of Oak Ridge, passed away on August 9, 2013 at his home in Oak Ridge. Brian was born on April 13, 1957 in Morristown, to John and Jean (Angerbauer) Doig.

He attended Morristown High School and graduated class of 1975. He continued his education at The College of New Jersey class of 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, 177th Session. He was also a life member of the Morris Twp. Fairchild Fire Dept.

He worked at the Morris County Prosecutors Office from 1981 to 2004 retiring as a Lieutenant of Investigations. While at the Prosecutors office Brian was the supervisor of numerous units such as missing persons, juvenile, bias, domestic violence just to name a few. He founded and commanded the missing person unit in 1982 and the gang task force in 2003. He worked several details executive protection and security detail of President George W. Bush and a rescue detail of President Ronald Reagan. He was actually interviewed and appeared on television programs such as A&E's, "American Justice" and Family Channel's, "I Detective".

Brian then worked at the Law and Public Safety Academy for Morris County Vo Tech until retiring in 2013. He initiated and implemented the Forensics program and on-suite practical training while teaching at the Academy.

He has touched many lives throughout his very memorable life. His final days were spent with his loving family and friends by his side. Those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time that one lives.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda (Miller) Doig of Oak Ridge, his daughter, Lindsay Doig and his son, Ian Doig of Morris Twp. His stepsons Jon and Bryan Whritenour of West Milford. His parents, John and Jean (Angerbauer)Doig formerly of Morris Twp., his brothers and their spouses, Glenn and Joann Doig of Maryville, Tenn. and Jeff and Janet Doig of Spofford, New Hampshire as well as a devoted sister and her husband, Nancy and John Ciacciarelli of Succasunna, NJ. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with family at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday, August 12, 2013. Church services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10:30 am at Morristown Methodist Church (66 Park Place, Morristown, NJ) to be followed by Interment at Restland Cemetery in East Hanover.
