DMYTRO MAKAR JR. AGE: 76 MOORESVILLE, NC Dmytro Makar Jr., 76, known as "James", passed away on Tuesday, October 13th 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Dmytro was born in Hanover Township. He grew up in Whippany & lived in Cedar Knolls for 30 years before moving to Mooresville, N.C. in 1987. Dmytro served in the United States Navy on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War from 3/2/1951 until being honorably discharged on 12/24/1953. Dmytro was a Truck Driver for Jockey Clothing Company in North Carolina for 15 years before retiring in 2006. Prior to that, he worked at the Whippany Paper Board for 20 years. Dmytro was a Member and Life Member of the Cedar Knolls Fire Department where he was Past Chief. He was the First Fire Inspector of Hanover Township and was past Inspector & past Captain of the Cedar Knolls First Aid Squad. James was a Life Member of the N.J. State Firemen's Association and member of the N.J. Fire Chief's Association. Dmytro was a member of the American Legion Post 155 and the VFW Post 5351, both in Whippany. He owned his own NASCAR Racing Car in Cedar Knolls for 3 years as well as being an avid Fisherman. Dmytro is pre-deceased by his brothers George, John and his sister Anna. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn E. (nee-Myers); his children: James & his wife, Patti of Troutman, N.C., Robert & his wife, Libby of Whippany & Debbie Napolitano of Statesville, N.C. & his 7 grandchildren & 1 great-granddaughter. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Monday, October 19th 2009 at 8:30a.m. at the Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Rd, Parsippany, (973) 887-3235 or visit www.partroyfuneralhome.com, with his Funeral Service to follow at 9:30a.m. at Saint John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Rd, Whippany. Entombment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 2-5pm ONLY at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to the Cedar Knolls Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 511, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
