Eugene V. Zajdel, 83, of Wharton, NJ passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013. He was born in Gary, Indiana to the late Viola (nee Myjak) and Valentine Zajdel. Mr. Zajdel proudly served in the US Army from 1952 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. Mr. Zajdel graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. He married Marjorie (nee Dowling) in 1954 and they resided in Gary, Indiana for several years. They later moved to Oak Ridge, NJ where they raised their family and have resided for the last 30 years and also lived in Toms River, NJ for 9 years. Mr. Zajdel was a Sales Manager for Hammond Valve Company; the Eastern Region Sales Manager for Red and White Valve Company; the President of Zajdel Associates, a manufacturing firm, and a fleet driver for Caremark International Healthcare Company. He was a long time parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church while residing in Oak Ridge, and while living in Toms River, NJ from 2000- 2009 he was a parishioner of Maximillian Kolbe RC Church. Mr. Zajdel was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Joseph F. Lamb Council # 5510. Mr. Zajdel will best be remembered for his love of family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to dance the Polka and attend Polish festivals, watching sports, and was an especially big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He was also a key member of the class of 1950 St. Ambrose undefeated football team.

Mr. Zajdel was predeceased by his brother, Theodore Zajdel in 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his loving children, Patricia Gates and her husband Steven of Carlsbad, CA, James E. Zajdel and his wife Nancy of Oak Ridge, NJ, and Kathryn Marcinkiewicz and her husband James of Parsippany, NJ, and his cherished grandchildren, Kerry and Megan Gates, Amy Laramie, Kimberly and Robert Zajdel, and Martin and Erin Marcinkiewicz.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 3pm to 7pm at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 LaRue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435 (GPS use 1 Post Place). The funeral mass will take place on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, 5635 Berkshire Valley Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. Final disposition will be private.
