Rose A. Paino, Loving Mother and Grandmother, Active in Church and Community Affairs, 94

Rose A. Paino (nee Giuffre) died on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Regency Grande Nursing Center in Dover, N.J. She was 94 years old. Rose was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a graduate of the Visitation Academy and Brooklyn College. She was employed by Bell Labs in Manhattan and Helena Rubenstein, Inc. in White Plains, N.Y.

Rose was active in many community activities throughout her life, including serving as the president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Westchester County and as state president of the women's division of the American Legion "Forty and Eight" Society. She was also a longtime and active parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.

For the past 11 years, she was a resident at Centennial Courts in Wharton, N.J. Before moving to Wharton, she resided for over 50 years in Dobbs Ferry.

Rose was predeceased by her husband, Andrew, her daughter, Rose, her sister, Marie McLaughlin, and her brother, Martin Giuffre. She is survived by her son, Andrew and his wife, Nancy, of New Paltz, N.Y.; her beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Michael; her niece, Jeanne Grivalsky (George) of Florham Park, her nephew, Denis McLaughlin (Barbara), of Rockaway Township; her grandnieces and nephew, Jennifer Boden, Danielle Grivalsky, Kathleen McLaughlin Novasack, and Kevin McLaughlin; and her great-grandnieces and nephew Allison and Anna Boden, and Juliette Rose and Bennett Novasack.

Visitation will be held 8:30 - 9:30am on Thursday July, 31 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday 10am at St. Bernard's Parish, Mt. Hope. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
