Samuel (Sammy) Santiago, 43, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his home in Morristown, NJ. Sammy was born July 23, 1969 in the Bronx, NY. He spent part of his childhood in Puerto Rico before returning to the Bronx, where he attended Evander Childs High School. He later moved to upstate NY where he graduated from Glenmont Job Corps. Sammy had been disabled for several years prior to his death and before that had been employed at several food service establishments in the Capital Region. Sammy was always laughing and joking and had many friends in Morristown and upstate New York. He loved diet Pepsi and Chinese food. Sammy enjoyed watching action movies and wrestling.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Susana Santiago and stepson, Alvin Vera, of Ecuador; his cherished daughter "big girl," Vanessa Santiago of upstate NY and a close family friend, Lorena Inestroza of Morristown, NJ. He held a special place in his heart for Jessica and Isaiah.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Market Street Mission, 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ. Friends and relatives are invited to attend this celebration of Sammy's life.
