AGE: 81 • Formerly of Manchester, CT and Whippany

Robert Ernest Panciera, 81, formerly of Manchester, CT and Whippany, NJ, husband of the late Christel (Glosch) Panciera, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home. He was born in Manchester and attended local schools, graduating from Manchester High School in 1951. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, attaining Eagle Scout status. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany for the US Army from 1952 to 1954. Bob was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1958. He also attended Syracuse University Graduate School of Business.

After graduation from college, he worked for Shell Oil as a budget supervisor and then moved on to investment firms in New York City as a computer systems analyst with Smith Barney, then Pershing, a division of the Bank of New York. Bob had been a resident of Whippany for over 45 years until moving to Wilton, CT last year. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, stamp collecting, reading, listening to music, and playing with his grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family very much as they loved him.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Per-Erik Dyrvik of New Canaan, CT, two grandchildren, Kimberly and Kristina, also of New Canaan, his brother, Kenneth Carl Panciera of Philadelphia, PA and his sister, Eleanor Hohenthal of Sarasota, FL and Martha's Vineyard, MA.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held in the East Cemetery in Manchester. The Holmes Funeral Home in Manchester has care of arrangements.
