AGE: 77 • Stanhope

Barney D. Hunts died on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Merry Heart Care Center in Succasunna. He was 77.

Born in Rehoboth, NM, he lived in Tucson AZ, CA, and then Mountain Lakes, NJ for 30 years before moving to Stanhope in 2000. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Hunts worked as a corporate officer of Electronic/Science Research for various companies including General Dynamics, Frieden, Singer, Allied-Signal, and Ragen Corporations, retiring as President of Circuit Technology in Long Island, NY. He was passionate about creating things and as a result, held many patents for the various companies he worked for. After retirement, he joined his sons working at the Stump Factory in Ledgewood.

Mr. Hunts was a member of the American Legion and the Lake Musconetcong Regional Planning Board. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hiking and travelling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice; three sons: Greg Hunts and wife Carole Devereux of La Center, WA, Doug Hunts and wife Sylvia, and Jeff Hunts all of Stanhope; his daughter: Sherry Hayward and husband Read of Benicia, CA; a brother: Larry Hunts of Medford, OR; and nine grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, Alexandra, Samantha and John Hunts, Michelle Seabury, and Daisy, Lily and Rowan Hayward.

A memorial gathering will be held at the American Legion Post 278 in Stanhope, on Saturday May 10, 2014 from 3:00-5:30 PM. Memorial donations would be greatly appreciated in Mr. Hunts' name to assist with upkeep and preservation of the lake he loved to: Lake Musconetcong Regional Planning Board, PO Box 308, Stanhope NJ 07874.
