George A. Enders, 85, of Netcong, NJ passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center in Andover, NJ. He was born in Harrison, NJ to George and Karoline Hohage Enders. The family moved to Dover, NJ in 1944. George graduated from Dover High School in 1946. The family then moved to Netcong, NJ. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served during the Korean War. He was a parachute rigger on the aircraft carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt. After five years of service to his country he was honorably discharged in 1953. He met and married his wife, Jean Wetzel and they settled in Netcong in 1956. He was the owner of Square Deal Fuels in Netcong for 21 years before retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Stanhope, and the Musconetcong Lodge No. 151 F. & A. M.. He was formerly active in the Cub Scouts and Lenape Valley Band Booster Club when his sons were involved. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean; two sons, Glenn and his wife Michelle of Andover and Bruce and his wife Norma of Matthews, VA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kayla, Noah and Shannon.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral home, 31 Main Street, Netcong N.J. 07857.
