Robert J. Fancher, Jr. passed away, surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Regency Grande Nursing Center, Dover. He was 89 years of age. Robert was born in Dover to the late Robert J. Fancher, Sr. and Anna nee Herman. He was raised in Wharton and lived in Moscow, PA for 10 years, before moving back to Wharton in 1998. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was a member of the first wave attack at Omaha Beach on D-Day. Mr. Fancher was a butcher for Ralph's Market of Mine Hill, retiring in 1988. Member of the American Legion Post #391 of Mine Hill and St. Mary's Church of Wharton.
Pre-deceased by his 1st wife: Leonce in 1951, his son Robert J., III in 1994 and his sister Katherine Perry in 1992. Survived by his Wife Lois Janet Fancher. Son James and wife Barbara of Wharton. Daughter Judy Fancher of Simpsonville, SC. 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by his best friend and caregiver, Molly Acevedo.
A memorial visitation will be 4-7pm on Wednesday, May 7 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A memorial mass will be held 10am on Thursday, May 8 at St. Mary's Church, 425 W. Blackwell St., Dover, NJ 07801. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dover.
