Barbara J. Tietz

AGE: 79 • Jefferson Twp.

Barbara J. Tietz passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital/Dover General. She was 79 years of age. Barbara was born to the late Daniel Conklin and Beatrice nee Stalee and raised in Jersey City before moving to the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Twp. in 1961. Mrs. Tietz worked for Colgate in NYC before becoming a rural letter carrier in Lake Hopatcong and later working at the Dover post office as a Postal Clerk, retiring in the early 1990's. She also was a Union Representative for the Postal Workers during her employment. Barbara was very active in the Lakeland Senior Citizens serving as secretary and two-time treasurer. She was also active in and served as treasurer for the Jefferson Twp. Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary. She participated in many Bowling Leagues, inevitably serving as secretary for most of the leagues.

Barbara also supported her children by serving as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and also held the Brownie and Girl Scout Leader positions. She coached Little League as well.

Pre-deceased by her six siblings: Beatrice Hunt, Ethel Hoskyns, Dorothy Menard, William Conklin, Clarinda O'Keefe and Violet Ross. Survived by her significant other, Ralph "Mono" Lanzo of Lake Hopatcong. Three Children: Walter Tietz and wife Deb of Blairstown, Patricia A. Tietz of Carson City, Nevada, Dana Tietz and his significant other Terry Saracino of Hamburg. Four Grandchildren: Christopher, Kyla, Adria, Misty and husband Travis. Two Great Granddaughters: Andie and Frankie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 12-4pm on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A funeral service will be held on Monday 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, E. Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory to Autism Speaks, would be appreciated. Offer condolences at
