Edward A. Taratko, Jr.

Edward A. Taratko, Jr. of Morris Township, NJ passed away suddenly at Morristown Medical Center on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was 85 years old. Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, Edward has resided in Morris Township for over 40 years. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Corp. during WWII. Edward worked as the Township Administrator & Director of Public Works for the Township of Morris for over 20 years. Edward earned his Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He held professional Engineering licenses in both New York and New Jersey, and was awarded numerous resolutions and accolades. Edward was a member of St. Virgil's Church; as well as NJ State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors, NJ State Board of Professional Planners, NJ Society of Municipal Engineers, and American Legion Post #59.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; and his devoted daughters, Geri Zimmermann, and Arlene McGovern and her husband, Jim. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters, Christine Gatti and her husband, John, and Jenifer Vail and her husband Damion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Josephine Taratko, Sr.; his son, Robert Taratko, and his brother, Bill Taratko.

A Funeral Mass for Edward will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00am at St. Virgil's Church, 250 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Please omit flowers. The family kindly requests in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edward, be made to: The Robert E. Taratko Educational Assistance Fund. Envelopes will be provided by the Funeral Home. Arrangements were under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
