ELEANOR RUTH MCCONNELL AGE: 90 NEWTON Eleanor Ruth McConnell (Romansic), 90, of Newton, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the lovely Bristol Glen Retirement Community in Newton, where she resided for the past 14 months. Born in Dover, Mrs. McConnell raised her family in Mt. Arlington then lived in Oak Ridge from 1964 to 1965 and moved to Blairstown in 1981, where she lived until moving to Newton. She was a graduate of Dover High School. A member of the Walnut Valley United Methodist Church, Mrs. McConnell was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Mt. Arlington Ladies Auxiliary. The daughter of the late George and Beulah Clark Romansic, Mrs. McConnell was predeceased by her husband, Emil R. McConnell, and her brother, Gerald "Sonny" Romansic. She is survived by her four sons, Richard J. McConnell and his wife, Ellen, of Little River, South Carolina, Robert A. McConnell and his wife, Annette, of Netcong, Roger D. McConnell and his wife, Dorothea, of Hardwick, and Philip D. McConnell and his wife, Odetta, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Heather Glick and her husband, David, of McClean, Virginia, Tim McConnell of Selbyville, Delaware, Ann Marie Merkey and her husband, Wayne, of Byram Township, Gary McConnell and his wife, Caroline of Blairstown, Sue Deemer and her husband, Will, of Redwood City, California, Krista Robinette and her husband, Rodney, of Vallejo, California, Christopher McConnell and his wife, Mary, of Blairstown, Pamela Lewis and her husband, Matt, of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth McConnell of Holyoke, Massachusetts; eleven great-grandchildren, Wolfe, Max, Brianna, Caileigh, Jacob, Logan, Aaron, Zachary, Aden, Ana and Jordan; her brother-in-law, Jim McConnell and his wife, Peg, of Palm Harbor, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the Walnut Valley United Methodist Church, Vail Road, Blairstown. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Eleanor R. McConnell to the Walnut Valley United Methodist Church, Vail Road, Blairstown, NJ 07825.
