Gloria Kiang Obituary

GLORIA LIANG KIANG AGE: 57 MORRISTOWN Gloria Liang Kiang, 57, passed away from pulmonary hypertension on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at her home in Morristown, NJ. She was born on November 10, 1951 in Queens, New York. She received a bachelors degree and an MBA from Columbia University. Gloria met her husband San Kiang while at school at Columbia and they married in 1974. Gloria worked at IBM after business school as a marketing executive where she was awarded "Salesperson of the Year." A devoted mother, she left her corporate job to start her own store, Children's Attic, in Manhattan so that she could care for her children. In 1986, Gloria and San moved to Madison, New Jersey to raise their family where they lived for over twenty years. Gloria was a compassionate humanitarian who devoted her free time in Madison to helping others. She volunteered at Pine Acres nursing home and served consistently at several soup kitchens. Aside from volunteering through organizations Gloria also helped those she met in need. She helped several senior citizens in the community by driving them to buy groceries and to doctors' appointments. Gloria will be remembered for her compassion, intelligence, and generosity. Surviving are her husband, San Kiang; son, Mark, and daughters, Erica and Lili. There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:00am at St Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison, New Jersey. Arrangements are under the care of Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, Madison.

San and family, I was so sorry to return from a rather isolated cottage on the coast of Maine to hear from Tina via David that Gloria had passed. There are no words to take the pain of sorrow and the emptiness away. Memories of the better times are wonderful and to know that she is now free of physical struggles and pain. Sorry I was not able to make it to the service. I do send my prayers and my love to all. Grace Liang Dickerson

Wonderful celebration of Gloria's life.

If you met my cousin before her illness, you would think her comely. If you spent time with her, you would think her beautiful as she was so kind hearted. This beauty stayed with her until she passed and I wait to see her again in my dreams.

I am so sorry to hear that Gloria has left this world. I knew her in the late 80s and 90s and had lost touch with her. We volunteered at Pine Acres together. She was such as nice, gentle person and I will always remember her with her kids when they were little. Sincere condolences, Ann Hoag
