Ann Sipple Nersesian, 72, of Hillsdale died Wednesday, August 22, after a long illness. Born in Morristown to Peter A. and Mary K. (Smith) Sipple and raised in Netcong, Ann attended Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison, and went on to graduate from St. Clare's School of Nursing in New York. She proudly worked as a Registered Nurse for four decades at New York Hospital, Valley Nursing Home in Westwood, the Jewish Home in River Vale, Bergen Regional Medical Center, on numerous private-duty cases, and generously caring for family and friends. At once strong-willed and charming, she was a lover of art, travel, classic American songs, animals, all things floral, and above all time spent with her children and her devoted husband Gilbert K. Nersesian, who predeceased her in 2011.
Ann is survived by her daughter Jennifer T. Nersesian, son-in-law Luis Maroto, and grandchildren Dahlia and Avedis of New Bedford, Mass.; son Peter H. Nersesian and Stephanie Dant of Medford, Mass.; brother Paul Kevin Sipple of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Kathleen S. Klag of New York, NY and Sr. Barbara A. Sipple, OSF, of Olean, NY; and countless nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Joseph, Edmund, John, and James Sipple, and sisters Rosemary Rowen, Helen Crocoll, and Elizabeth and Margaret Sipple.
Her humor, her grace, her unconditional compassion and selfless devotion to those in need will not be forgotten.
The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 10am on Saturday, September 15, Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ, with a memorial service at 12 noon. Donations in lieu of flowers, to a scholarship set up in Ann's name for nursing students in need may be made to: Ramapo College Foundation, 505 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, NJ, 07430. Please note "in honor of Ann Nersesian" on any contributions.
