Tad Robert Clawson
West Townshend, VT
Tad Clawson of West Townshend, VT passed on at his home on Saturday, March 2, 2013 after a brief illness. Tad graduated from Duke University with a BA in Business Administration, going on to an insurance career, as partner in Bono-Clawson Associates. He was very active in his church, volunteered in the overnight shelter in Brattleboro, and also served in the chaplaincy program at the Springfield VT Correctional Facility. A longtime member of the Mendham Golf & Tennis Club, Tad took up the sport early in life, winning the club championship at age 16; going on to win numerous other trophies over the years. Tad was known as a straight shooter, both on the golf course and off. In addition to his deep integrity, Tad's good nature, storytelling, and sense of humor could always be counted on. In more recent years, Tad delighted in playing the bass guitar and even played in a gig or two.
Tad leaves his wife of 30 years, Heidi Clawson; his sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Bill Berghel; and their children, Mark and Sarah, of Memphis, TN. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Muriel Clawson of Mendham, NJ.
In accordance with Tad's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Donations may be made to the non-profit West River Community Project, 6573 Route 30, West Townshend, VT 05359, or the Junior Golf Program at Mendham Golf Club & Tennis Club.
