She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Marguerite Watson of Morristown, her sisters Myra Reyburn and Peggy Badenhausen, her husband of 57 years Gordon C. Brown originally from Madison, New Jersey and her son Gordon C Brown Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters Lee Pitman (John) and Linda Harris (Norm), six grandchildren: Chris Brown, Steve Brown, Blake Harris, Wait Harris (Leslie), Holley Haas and David Pitman (Carrie Marsh), three great grandchildren, and former daughter-in-law Susan R. Brown (Mike Tweed).

Lucy was born on October 2, 1920 in Morristown, New Jersey, graduated from Kent Place School in Summit, New Jersey and was the first enlisted WAVE during World War II. She took Officer Candidate Training at Smith College, served at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and in 1945 was honorably discharged as a Lt. j.g. After living in New York City and New Vernon, New Jersey, Lucy and Gordon moved their family to St. Paul in 1958 where Lucy raised her young family, enjoyed a wide variety of friendships, enthusiastically engaged in a number of volunteer activities and was an avid golfer. She was known for her relentless and joyful sense of humor, white tennis shoes, patriotic pride and front porch flower boxes full of red, white and blue petunias.

Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of The Wellington and Interim Healthcare for their care and kindnesses over the past seven years.

Memorials may be sent to the organization of the donor's choice or to the Gordon C Brown Jr. Fund of the YMCA of St. Paul. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at St John the Evangelist Episcopal Church at Portland and Kent in St. Paul, Minnesota.
