Thomas R. Holland, M.D., born October 22, 1926, in Morristown, N.J. passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013. His parents were Judge Albert H. Holland and Mary Layer Holland of Morristown. Dr. Holland was raised in Morristown, graduated Princeton University in 1950 and Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1954. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. and residences in Albany and at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Holland served in the Army in South Korea from 1944-1946. Before retiring to Sarasota, Florida, Dr. Holland maintained a private practice in Morristown from 1958 to 1986. As a member of the staff at Morristown Memorial Hospital, he held positions in quality assurance, utilization review and served as Chief of Hematology/Oncology Service. Dr. Holland was the first oncologist in Morristown.
Dr. Holland leaves his widow, Eneida Gutierrez Holland, M.D.; his brother, James F. Holland, M.D.; eight nieces and nephews and four children by a previous marriage, Heath, Hillary, Randall and Rebecca.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to : James F. Holland Research Fund, Mount Sinai Medical Center, 1 Gustave L. Levy Place, Box 1079, New York, N.Y. 10029. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown, N.J. Arrangements are with Dangler Funeral Home of Morris Plains.
