Bertram J. Kersen, of Franklin Lakes, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Bert was born in Hoboken, NJ and grew up in Englewood, NJ and was a graduate of Dwight Morrow High School and Long Island University. Bert served in the United States Army and after his service returned to Englewood. Bert had also resided in Bergenfield and New Milford until moving to Franklin Lakes many years ago. Bert was the publisher of the Hudson Dispatch and Paterson News and was in the Magazine and Distribution Business for the Hudson County News, Metropolitan News and the New York Times. He is survived by his wife, Beth M. Kersen, 3 sons, Lawrence and his wife Patricia, Lowell Kersen and David Kersen, 3 grandchildren, Mackenzie Kersen, Lauren Kersen and Michael Kersen, and a sister, Sorie Hecht. In his wife Beth's family there are 2 daughters, Kim Kurlan and her husband Norman and Lauren Wolpert, and a son-in-law, Joe Contaldi and his wife Beth. Her grandchildren are Michael Contaldi, Adam Lutz and his wife Heather, David Lutz and his wife Diane, Brynn Kurlan, Cali Kurlan, Remy Kurlan and Ian Kurlan. Her 3 great-grandchildren are Maya Lutz, Chad Lutz and Noah Lutz. Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West), Fair Lawn, NJ. Memorial donations in memory of Bertram J. Kersen may be made to your own favorite charity.
