Denise Dooling Payne

AGE: 62 • Morris Plains

Denise spent her last day with us on Thursday January 30th, 2014. She was born on August 28th, 1951 in Morristown and spent most of her life in the Morris Plains area.

She graduated Morristown High School in 1969 and then attended the County College of Morris and Newark State (Kean University). She later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University with a Master's Degree in Education. Denise worked at the Morris County Public Library and the County College of Morris where she became the Assistant Director of Admissions.

Later in life Denise found her true passion when she became a 2nd grade teacher at the Alfred Vail School. Denise truly loved every child and believed every student deserved a chance at success. She worked tirelessly to help students reach their full potential through poetry, art and plays. She cared for and inspired countless children who passed through her classroom over the last 13 years where she shared her life and personality.

She is survived by her son Sean, her husband Harold, brothers John "Jay" and Michael "Mickey" Dooling and her sisters Debra Sherman and Deirdre Dooling. In the spirit of Denise's generosity and her love for the children of the Morris School District, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alfred Vail School HSA, for the Mrs. Payne Memorial Fund to aid needy children.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 4-8 pm, with a Memorial Service at 8 pm, at Dangler Funeral Home, 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains. Interment will be private.
