I offer my sincere condolences to Verdi and all the family. We loved Mr. J and appreciated his nurturing leadership. I was on the first girl's swim team at MHS in 1975. Those are great memories of strategy and persistence and joyful successes and disappointing failures, with Mr. J keeping us steady and encouraging us throughout. I appreciated all the photos over the years, toothe musicals, school life, athletic events and friends. I will miss him.

My sincere condolences to Verdi and the family. I had the privilege of working with Ed during his tenure in Morristown; Verdi mentored me during my early years as her colleague. I remember the warmth in their home, his love of family. Wishing that memories of happier times will bring comfort to all of the family and dear ones.

I remember Mr. Johnson as "Mr. J." He was an inspiration to me. The MHS Swim team was my haven and Mr. J was my safe shore. Even though he wasn't my guidance counselor, I went to him for advice on colleges and summer programs and life. He always had time for his students and his swimmers. His compassion and authenticity shined through all he did. I am proud to say that I am a swim coach and guidance counselor now too! Thanks Mr. J! I've never forgotten the Bananas cheer!

Coach J is a legend. As a former MHS swimmer with my own children now in/graduated the swim program, Coach J set the tone for a strong unit of students to come together in a competitive and FUN atmosphere. The memories of high school swim have bonded groups of us together for a lifetime. But if chlorine can extend a life to 94 years, maybe we should all start coaching! God bless you Ed Johnson and deepest condolences to your family and friends. Your legacy lives on.
