Chief Warrant Officer Don Cooper Williams, age 83, left his family on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, to join his Lord and Savior. Don was born March 29, 1929, in Garrison to William and Bonnie Williams. Don enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps
at the age of 17. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army
one year later. He retired after 23 years of faithful military service as a Chief Warrant Officer II. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he and his family moved to Longview. Don then worked for Eastman Kodak Company for 20 years before retiring, again. Don enjoyed gardening, ranching and his annual "Pig Roast." Since 1981, he has hosted this event for all his friends and family. This annual tradition began for Don because, while stationed in Ethiopia, he enjoyed the festivities of the locals when they put on a pig roast. When he returned home he started his own tradition. You could always count on over 200 friends and family coming to enjoy this day with Don. Don never knew a stranger. He came from both a hard working and military family lineage and he made sure those traditions and standards continued. He was a member of the VFW
Post 4002, Longview and also the American Legion. Don was also a Chaplain for the Marine Corp League. Don is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Brenda Williams of Longview.
