Clayton Rodrigues

Clayton James Rodrigues, 24, passed away on Sept. 16, 2014, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on Sept. 9, 1990, to Rick and Sheila Rodrigues in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he was born and raised. Left to cherish his memory are his parents; sister, Adrianna Rodrigues; brother, JohnPaul Rodrigues; grandmother, Nancy Cox; grandfather, Jerry Wise and wife, Betty; godparents, Tommy and Margaret Cordova; aunts and uncles, Terry and Patricia Harris, Allen and Martha Daniel, and Charles and Lynda Rodrigues; cousins, Jeffrey Rodrigues and wife, Melissa, Terry Harris Jr. and wife, Dijana, Darla Weatherly and husband, Pepper, Tommy Cordova Jr. and wife, Nikki, Keith Cordova and wife, Amanda, Kimberly Daniel-Scroggins, and Craig Daniel and wife, Brittany; along with many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Mary Rodrigues; and great-grandparents, Mary and A.B. Cox. Clayton graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 2009, and he was awarded a degree in petroleum technology from Panola College in December 2011. In January 2012, Clayton moved to Sterling City, Texas, where he began his career with Chevron Corporation as a field specialist. In November 2012, he was promoted and transferred to Odessa. According to his supervisors, he was a fast learner, hard worker, and easily made friends at work. Clayton loved to play video and computer games online, and spent many hours playing with his brother when they were younger. He liked to hunt and fish, and ride his motorcycle and 4-wheeler. He had recently begun to take guitar lessons, and had started to play golf with a team from his work. His pride and joy was his truck, and he was always ordering new parts for it so he could customize it the way he wanted it. He was very witty, and always had a funny comment to make everyone laugh. He loved to come home to see his family whenever he could, and he loved to be waited on hand-and-foot by his mom and sister. He never turned down one of mom’s home-cooked meals, and family was the most important thing to him. Clayton was an easy-going man who was always up for a good time, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His smile, laugh, and presence will never be forgotten. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. James E. Young officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
