Funeral service for Mr. Wyman E. Jacobs, 81, of Woden, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Powell and Lynwood Dykes officiating. Burial will follow at Simpson Campground. Mr. Jacobs was born on Sept. 5, 1931, in Woden to the late Billy Jefferson Jacobs and Pearl King Jacobs. He passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, in Nacogdoches. Wyman was born and raised in Woden and graduated from Woden High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He was a self-employed rancher and farmer, and he loved to work. He enjoyed ranching, gardening, being a faithful servant to God, and most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. Wyman was very active at Woden Baptist Church, where he had been a member for 43 years and a deacon for 35 years. He had a big heart for his community, his fellow church members and his family. He had great care for his fellow man. Led by his faith, he delivered food and personal fellowship with those who were ill or shut-ins. If someone was in need he would personally see to it that those needs were met. Wyman was humble about the service he provided, not wanting any acknowledgement or pats on the back for what God led him to do for his community and for his church. Wyman had been on the board of trustees for Woden ISD, a director for Woden Water Supply and was a past president for Simpson Campground Cemetery Board. Wyman is survived by his wife, Bonnie S. Jacobs of Woden; two sons, Larry Jacobs and wife, Latricia, and Lance Jacobs and wife, Angie, all of Woden; one daughter, Linda Brookshire and husband, Jamey, of Woden; grandchildren, Lane Jacobs, Lindsey Jacobs, Madison Jacobs, Ethan Jacobs, Caleb Jacobs, Savanna Brookshire Tutt, Tiffany Brookshire, Brianne Lee, Shelby Brookshire and Chelsea Brookshire; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jacobs of Nacogdoches, and Earline Jacobs of Nacogdoches; as well as nieces and nephews and host of extended family and great friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Worth Jacobs. Pallbearers will be Lane Jacobs, Madison Jacobs, Ethan Jacobs, Stephen Jacobs, Tom Strickland and Burl Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Johnson, James Butler and Kenneth Wheless. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woden Baptist Church, P.O. Box 45, Woden, Texas 75978; or to Simpson Campground Cemetery, Pat Smith, 9924 FM 226 Nacogdoches, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Laird Funeral Home. To offer condolences to the family, please log onto www.lairdfh.net. Laird Funeral Home.
