Marianne Sabine Whitsett passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at Medical Center Hospital in Nacogdoches. Marianne was the daughter to the late August and Sophie Uekermann, and sister to Karl Heinz Uekermann of Springfield, Ill., and the late Renate Webb. Born Jan. 29, 1934, in Grebenstein, Germany, she accompanied her family to Oconee, Ill., where she met and married the late Kenneth Warren Gudehus. Together they raised two children, the late Kenneth Warren Gudehus Jr. and Karen Anne Mohr of Nacogdoches. In 1991, Marianne married Kenneth Whitsett, and they lived in Decatur, Ill., until moving to Nacogdoches, in 2000, where she resided until her passing. Marianne worked hard her whole life. She suffered many heartaches, but was always there to comfort others. She loved her family more than anything, and made all she came into contact with feel like family too. We will all miss her smile, her advice, and her determination. Marianne is survived by her brother, Karl Heinz Uekermann; her daughter Karen (Steve) Mohr; and two grandchildren, Austin Mohr and Tyler (Taylor) Mohr. Visitation and services were held Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Shane Scroggins officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Mound Cemetery in Oconee, Ill. Online memories and condolences may be offered at www.CasonMonk-Metcalf.com. Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
