Mrs. Ethelind S. "Linde" Gibson of Nacogdoches, Texas, was called home on December 23, 2010, to be with her Lord. Linde was born on January 8, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York to Karl H. and Gertrude Weissinger Siglock. Linde graduated from Madison High School in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science Degree and graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters Degree in Dietetics. Linde married the love of her life, Mr William Wallace Gibson on June 23, 1951, in Brooklyn. Mrs. Gibson taught 25 years at Stephen F. Austin State University as an instructor in the Human Sciences Department (known then as Home Economics) and was the Director of Dietary at Memorial Hospital for well over twenty years. She was appointed a Member of the State Board of Examiners of Dietitians. Linde was an avid gardner and bridge player. She loved to entertain, liked to cook and adored her grandchildren. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the American Dietetic Association and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Nacogdoches. Linde is survived by her husband of 59 years, William W. Gibson; two daughters, Rebecca Canty and husband, Stewart, and Diana Brittain and husband, Gary; one son, Karl Gibson; four grandchildren, David and Stephen Canty and Jeremy and Emily Brittain, all of Nacogdoches; as well as other extended family and great friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor the life of Mrs. Gibson. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
