The Rev. H. Leroy Land, 87, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away January 9, 2011. He was born September 23, 1923, in Temple, Texas, to the Rev. Herbert "Hub" and Edna Elms Land. He was an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and served as a full-time pastor for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Land, who passed away December 29, 2009; his infant grandson, Kenneth Samuel Harrison Jr.; and his parents. Leroy is survived by two daughters, Carmen (Sam) Harrison of Houston, Texas, and Faith (Mark) Maddox of Humble, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Land (Urania) of Chula Vista, California; sisters, Nelda (Franklin) Wall of Pampa, Texas, and Lynda T. (James) Boardman of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Todd Harrison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Taylor (Andrea) Maddox of Humble, Texas, Bethany Maddox of Humble, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Connor (age 6), Kailee (age 5) and Camryn (age 6 months). Viewing will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at First Church of the Nazarene, 211 E. Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas. A service of worship and celebration of life will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Duane Srader officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Nacogdoches, Texas. Memorial gifts can be made in Rev. Land's name to First Church of the Nazarene, Nacogdoches, Texas. Funeral services under the direction of Garrison Funeral Home, Garrison.
