Lindsay Robbins Burr, age 59, was born Aug. 19, 1953, and died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 in Tempe, Ariz. Lindsay was born in Nacogdoches and was the son of Jesse Herndon Burr (deceased) and Betty Jane Fagan Burr (deceased). Lindsay was brother to Herndon Hutchinson Burr (deceased) and is survived by his sister Nona Burr Donahue (Jim) and his nieces Leah Jane Kaplan and Serena Louise Kaplan. Lindsay was a graduate of Nacogdoches High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State University and Texas State Technical Institute. He was employed by the Houston Post, the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post. He retired from the Denver Post as a journeyman pressman having learned this trade from his grandfather. A longtime resident of Bailey, Colo., Lindsay loved the great outdoors of the Colorado Rockies. He enjoyed rifle and bow hunting, knife-making and all things related to his mountain home. He was an avid astronomer having owned and built several telescopes. He was an accomplished photographer and had a small collection of both antique and modern cameras. Lindsay had an uncanny memory and never ceased to amaze his family with the catalogue of knowledge he acquired through his extensive reading and life adventures. He was a member of the Mountain High Community Church and the men's prayer group in Bailey, Colo. Lindsay was a sweet good man who was able to live an independent life on his own terms â€" with patience in adversity. He is remembered for his kind heart, the optimism and strength with which he lived his life and his unceasing curiosity for the natural world around him. A memorial service honoring his life will be held in Nacogdoches in January of 2013. Details will be announced. Memorials may be made to the Betty Fagan Burr Scholarship, c/o Stephen F.
