KEELOR, ARLON GRAYSON Passed away September 28, 2013, in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born April 22, 1932, in Paragould, Arkansas to Ben and Adell Keelor. Arlon was a longtime resident of Royal Oak where he had lived for 58 years. Prior to this he had lived in Clawson, Michigan, St. Louis, Missouri, and Paragould. Arlon worked as an optician and was owner/operator of Lathrup Optical in Lathrup Village, Michigan for 27 years. Prior to this he had worked as a store manager for King Optical. Arlon was a long time member and Past President of the Lathrup Village Lions Club. He was also awarded the coveted Melvin Jones Award for his long time service to the Lions club. Arlon served in the US Army from 1950 - 1953 and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. He obtained the rank of Sergeant and earned a Purple Heart. Arlon is survived by his wife of 58 years Phyllis Helen Keelor; three sons, Steven, Michael (Tawnee), and Mark (Mary), and a brother Landall of Florida. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 Twelve Mile Rd. (2 blocks W. of Woodward) Berkley. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by a committal service at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Lathrup Village Lions Club in support of their White Cane fund.
