MR. CHARLES E. "CHUCK" BEAM

BEAM, CHARLES E. "CHUCK" Age 83, of Cheboygan and formerly of Royal Oak, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013. He was the son of George E. and Pansy M. (Snow) Beam, born July 4, 1930 in Springfield, IL. Chuck was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Marine Corps from 1951 - 1953. On August 16, 1952 in Detroit, he married V. Marjory Bennett. Chuck worked for the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company from 1950 - 1961. He then became an entrepreneur and started his own heating and air conditioning contracting business. For 30 years he was a successful business man serving the Detroit Area. When he retired, he and his wife became "Snowbirds", spending their winters in Punta Gorda, FL and their summers in Cheboygan, Michigan. Locally, he was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. In Florida, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda where he was active in the small group ministry for 16 years. Chuck had also been an active member of the Isles Yacht Club in Florida. He enjoyed cruising, boating, travelling and, most of all, his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, V. Marjory, son Ralph, and three daughters: Marjie (Simms), Sallie (Shaw) and Barbara (Beam) as well as his eight grandchildren, and a sister, Rebecca Chappell. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 4 p.m., with the family greeting friends beginning at 3 p.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cheboygan, with Rev. Trevor Herm officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Endowment Fund. The Nordman-Christian Funeral Home of Cheboygan is caring for the family.
