Keith LaFountaine, age 97, of Frankenmuth, Mich.,formerly of Royal Oak, Mich., passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home. Keith was born on December 6, 1915. He married Marion Maichele, a former reporter
for the Daily Tribune, Associated Press, and the Detroit News, in 1948. She predeceased him in 1991. Keith worked for the Daily Tribune for over 50 years. He started as a paperboy, advancing to photographer, reporter, proofreader, and mechanical superintendant. Keith was an avid reader and a loving, generous father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. Surviving are a son, David (Suzan) LaFountaine of Agoura Hills, Calif., a daughter, Diane Haber of Frankenmuth; four grandchildren, Drew and Nicole LaFountaine, Bethany (Todd) Hemker, Jeffrey (Kelly) Haber; three great-grandchildren, Nicolas Edwards, Alexander and Mallory Hemker; a sister-in-law, Frances Maichele; and three nieces. Preceded in death by a brother, Maurice LaFountaine, and a son-in-law, Michael Haber. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 25, 2013, 11 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. The Rev. David Eardley will officiate with burial to follow in Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Mich. Keith's family will receive visitors on Monday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.at the funeral home.
