Lorna M. Wildon, age 82, of Royal Oak, died April 12, 2013. She was born September 2, 1931 in Lansing to Dr. Carrick and Emma Wildon.
Ms. Wildon earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University
and her Master's Degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Music. As a singer and actress, she performed in New York and Michigan including appearances with the Detroit Civic Theatre as 'Anna' in the King and I and 'Maria' in The Sound of Music. Her love of the arts lead her to Royal Oak Kimball High School, where she was an inspiration to generations as a teacher and director of the Drama program for 31 years. She was also a talented artist, working in both oils and watercolors. Her works earned her several awards including three Best of Show and Artist of the Year from the South Oakland Art Assoc. She has served as President of the Royal Oak Arts Council and Chairperson of the Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair. A Celebration of Ms. Wildon's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 with gathering beginning at 10 a.m. at the Kinsey-Garrett Funeral Home, 420 S. Lafayette, Royal Oak.
