FREY, NELLIE MARIE Age 87, a La Quinta resident for the past 13 years, passed peacefully from this world on the evening of September 9, 2013. She was the third of seven children born to Edith and George Markham. She is survived by her loving husband, Eddie Frey; three sons, Glenn, Alan and Matthew, and four grandchildren, Taylor Marie, Deacon, Otis and Justin. Born on Christmas day 1925, in Charleston, West Virginia, she moved with her family to Detroit, Michigan in June of 1926, where she lived for the next 50 years. In 1952, she and Eddie left the downtown area of Detroit and moved to Royal Oak. They lived on Wyandotte Street, then Catalpa and years later in Lake Orion. With her children grown, she and Ed moved first to Fort Myers, Florida where they were active members at the Vines Country Club. To be closer to their children and grandchildren they came to PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. She leaves us now to be with her loving mother, Edith; sisters, Virginia and Lucille and brothers Calvin and George Jr. She lived a wonderful life filled with love, friends and family. She will be remembered for her kindness, her sincerity, her sense of humor, her unconditional love of family and her home baked apple pies. Everyone who knew Nellie Frey will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
