Anthony Swiacki Obituary
SWIACKI, ANTHONY, age 89, died Sunday, Father’s Day, June 15, 2014, peacefully in his sleep, having suffered declining health since the loss of his beloved wife of 66 years, Arlene, 16 months ago. Born in Hamtramck, Michigan in 1924, the oldest of nine children of immigrant Polish parents, he liked to say he lived the American Dream. A proud World War II Veteran, he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his service in the Pacific. Returned to Michigan and married his sweetheart, Arlene and raised five children. After retiring from Detroit Edison after 42 years, they became “snowbirds”, sharing their time between homes in Prescott, Michigan and Melbourne, Florida. He is survived by his five children, Renee (Brad Cleasby) Ureel, Anthony Jr. (Lina), Alan (Karen), Arthur (Mary) and Andrew (Joyce); together with 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned on their Wedding Anniversary, September 6, 2014. Their ashes will be scattered at their summer home in Michigan, they will be together again, forever.
