David George Asch Obituary
Asch, David George 77, of Kalkaska, passed away at his home on Monday, June 11. David was born to the late Fred and Caroline (Polovich) on January 9, 1941. He graduated from Clawson H.S. in 1958. After attending Lawrence Tech, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and saw action in Korea. Dave lived in Berkley and Clawson, and worked as a tool maker for over 25 years. After his retirement he moved to Kalkaska, living on a lake in the woods, and in the cottage his father built in 1950. There he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and golfing. He exposed his sons early and often to the beauty and serenity of nature. No one loved the outdoors more than Dave. Another love of Dave's was sports, where early on he introduced the passionate world of being a Motor City and U-M sports fan, to his boys. Although not a wealthy man, Dave was generous in his gift giving. Dave is survived by his wife Sue (Barrentine), sons Jeffrey and Anthony Asch, grandchildren Lucy and Owen Asch, all of Portland, Oregon, Sue's family Kirk (Kim) Bowen, Brandon Bowen and Brodie Bowen of Clawson, brother, Stuart (Mary Ann) Asch of Clarkston, and fishing friend, Paul Dodds of Indian River.
