Edward Lubanski Obituary

Edward A., Lubanski, age 81, a resident of Warren, formerly of Oak Park, died Monday, November 8, 2010. He was born September 3, 1929 in Detroit to Edward and Josephine. Mr. Lubanski was a professional bowler, charter member and past president of the Professional Bowlers Association. His competitive career spanned over 4 decades, culminating with being named Bowler of the Year in 1959. He continued his career as an instructor until early this year. Ed was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, ABC Hall of Fame, Polish American Sports Hall of Fame and City of Detroit Sports Hall of Fame. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Oak Park, where he was active in the Men's Club, and he was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty; children Janis, Edward, Paul (Cathy) and Robert (Maria); and nine grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter, Denise Cohen. Memorial visitation Thursday 1-9 p.m., Rosary 7 p.m., at Spaulding & Curtin Funeral Directors, Ferndale and Friday 9:30 a.m. until Memorial Mass 10 a.m at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Oak Park.
