Robert L. Butler Obituary
Butler, Robert L. “Dusty”; age 89; of Fort Gratiot; went to be with his Savior on June 2, 2014 in Blue Water Hospice Home after a long illness. He was born January 26, 1925 in Englewood, Kansas to Frank and Minnie Butler, and lived in Fort Gratiot for the past eight years. He married Lois J. Sower on April 16, 1945 in Wauseon, Ohio. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2009. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II. Dusty was a truck driver for Georgia-Pacific for many years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Dusty enjoyed woodworking, and made over 250 crosses which he gave away. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and a great storyteller. His family treasures his written memoirs. He is survived by his two children, Kathy (Rev. Tim) Eichberger and John (Linda) Butler; four grandchildren, Jeremy Butler, Sara (Gary) Leathorn, Rachel (Kevin) Roehling, Michael (Tammy) Eichberger; six great grandchildren, Evan and Ellyana Leathorn, Jack, Kathryn, and Trevor Roehling, and Tristan DuPont; four siblings, Norman Butler, Norma Langford, Marion (Pat) Butler, Marvin (Kathy) Butler; and a sister-in-law, Leola Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, George, Edith, Curtis, and Marvena; and a grandson, Andrew Eichberger. There will be a Private Family Committal Service at Green’s Cemetery in Manitou Beach, Michigan. Contributions may be made in Dusty’s memory to Faith Lutheran Church. Cremation arrangements were by Smith Family Funeral Home – North.
