William "Kirk" Marshall Obituary
Marshall, William “Kirk”, age 84, a lifelong Richmond area resident died Sunday June 8, 2014 at McLaren Macomb Hospital, Mount Clemens. He was born August 11, 1929 in Romeo the son of the late Ellsworth and Sybil (nee Kirkham) Marshall. His marriage to Lucia Ann Scavarda was on June 19, 1955 in East Lansing. Kirk served his country with the United States Marines in Korea from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of First United Church of Christ Church, Richmond. Kirk was a charter member, coach and contributor to the Richmond Little League and softball programs. He served on the Richmond and Macomb County recreation boards and was a member of the Richmond Community Theatre, directing, producing and acting. Kirk was an avid hunting and fishing sportsman and supporter of conservation and wildlife programs. Kirk was a loyal and proud member of the Richmond Community and has always contributed and looked for the betterment of Richmond his entire life. Most important of all, Kirk is well known for his wonderful story telling and outstanding sense of humor his approach to life creates a warm atmosphere and positively influences the world around him. Kirk owned and operated Marshall Associates, Richmond for 50 years until his retirement in 2012. Surviving in addition to his wife, Lucia of 59 years are five children, Kari Hortos, Kristine Miele, D. Kirk Marshall, Kathryn Yoder and Heather Dittman; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Molin. The family honors the memory of Kirk and invite you to visit and share memories Tuesday 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Church of Christ, Richmond, with 10 a.m. visiting. Rev. Denise Griebler, pastor, will officiate.
