Helen Ann Welsh Obituary
Welsh, Helen Ann; 85; of Holly, Michigan; December 5, 1928 to August 3, 2014. Helen was born and raised in Hillsboro, Ohio. She attended the Western College for Women in Miami, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green University, where she was a member of Phi MU sorority. She taught elementary school in Lorain, Ohio where she met Charles Welsh, a fellow teacher. They were married on June 5, 1952. They moved first to Birmingham, Michigan, and later to Waterford (Drayton Plains), Michigan where Charles became a school principal. Helen was extremely well read and was a supporter of civil and women’s rights issues. She was a long time member of the Waterford Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), serving as their Chairwoman. Helen greatly enjoyed spending the winter living at Paradise Bay in Bradenton, Florida and after retirement moved to Holly, Michigan to be closer to her sons and grandsons. Helen will be remembered as being intelligent, fun loving, adventurous, and a great Mom. She was preceded in in death by her husband Charles Welsh and brother Robert Noftsger.She is survived by sons Roger Welsh (Eva Newman), Richard Welsh, and Robert (June) Welsh, all of Holly; grandsons Ryan Welsh, Adam Welsh (Christina), and Matthew Welsh (Emerald); and great granddaughters Chloe, Lana, and Emma Welsh.
