Ross, George John, Jr.; 86; of Rochester Hills, Michigan; passed away in Fort Meyers, Florida on March 19, 2014. George leaves his loving wife, Joan Ross for 36 years; also daughters, Casey Ross (Glen Witalec) and Michalle Ross (Robert Sobieralski); step-children, John Dahlmann, Kristy Dahlmann Howe (Lawrence Howe), Paul (Carol) Dahlmann, and Daniel Dahlmann; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. George graduated from Rochester High School 1945, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a graduate of Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, and retired from Rochester Community Schools in 1987, after serving 25 years as a teacher and guidance counselor at West and Reuther Jr. High Schools. George served as a Volunteer Fireman in Rochester, was a member of Rochester/North Oakland Elks Lodge # 2225 and was especially proud of his lifelong membership in the Boy Scouts of America having attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Memorial Service, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 11 a.m. with an In State time of 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Road, Rochester. The family will receive friends Tuesday 3 to 9 p.m. at the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials to the Boy Scouts Great Lakes Council for Camperships or to the Rochester Area Neighborhood House. Inurnment Mt. Avon Cemetery.
