MELVILLE - Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 26, 2013, in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home, in Melville, LA., for Gerald J. Ferina, 84, who passed away Monday, September 23, 2013. The service will be conducted by Fr. James Nguyen. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. John Church Mausoleum in Melville, LA.
Gerald, was a native of Melville and resident Kenner, LA,. He passed away at Prompt Succor Nursing Home on Monday, September 23, 2013. Gerald proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. Gerald was a retired Pharmasist. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years he enjoyed going to the Casino.
Gerald is survived by his cousins, Antiontte Costa and husband, Victor, Betty Jo Vollenweider, Dr. William Ferrante and wife, Judy, Lucille Artall, Jasper Artall and wife, Carol, Harvey Massey and wife, Carol, Mary Ellen Massey, Ralph Artall and wife, Yvonne, Lisa Murphy and husband, Tim, Stacey Lemaire and husband, Ryan.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bennedette Artall Ferina, brother, Symour Ferina, sister, Veda Ferin.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
A Rosary service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
