Daniel Francis Guilbeau, Sr.

SUNSET - Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Daniel Francis Guilbeau, Sr., age 56, who passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 at his residence in Sunset.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Mr. Guilbeau was a native and a lifelong resident of Grand Coteau. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Mr. Guilbeau was an active member of the community helping with the Thenstead Center, Youth Services and AmeriCorps. He was a Supervisor for Grand Coteau and a member of the Park Committee

Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Janie Meche Guilbeau; his mother, Lorenia L. Guilbeau of Grand Coteau; his aunt who he considered to be his second mom, Lovenia Lazare of Grand Coteau; two sons, André Guilbeau and Daniel Guilbeau, II, both of Sunset; three daughters, Natashia Guilbeau-Blueitt and her husband, Eric, of Washington, LA, Crystal Richard and Emily Richard, both of Opelousas; seven grandchildren, Jayden Blueitt, Jade Blueitt, Jayce Blueitt, Daneryon Lewis, Jylon Lewis, DeShawn Lewis and Dre'lyn Lewis; four brothers, Stephen Guilbeau of Austin, TX, John Guilbeau, Norman Guilbeau and Charles Guilbeau, Jr. and his wife, Glenda, all of Grand Coteau; a cousin which whom he considered a brother, Leonard Lazare and his wife, Elgie, of Houston, TX; five sisters, Lori Guilbeau of Grand Coteau, Myra Guilbeau of Houston ,TX, Linda Guilbeau-Smith and her husband, Joseph, Stephanie Guilbeau-Pryor, all of Opelousas and Joyce Isaac and her husband, Michael, of Grand Coteau; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Leo Guilbeau, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Pearl Ned Lazare and her husband, Nicholas; his paternal grandparents, Beatrice Moten Guilbeau and her husband, Aloyiseus Guilbeau; one brother, Anthony Harold "Gilly" Guilbeau; and one sister, Dora Philyaw.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
