OPELOUSAS - Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Opelousas for Edgar Bourgeois, age 84, who passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at 9:12 a.m. at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
Interment was in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. Paul Metrejean officiated at the services.
Mr. Bourgeois was a native and resident of Opelousas and was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He retired with Sun Oil Company after forty years as a Senior Engineer Specialist. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors included one son, Craig Bourgeois and his wife, Cathy, of Plano, TX; one sister, Gladys Lantz and her husband, Walter, of Scott; one granddaughter, Eydie Berry and her husband, Dave, of Beach Bay, WA; three great grandchildren, Matthew Berry, Michelle Berry, and Elizabeth Berry; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludovic Bourgeois and the former Lelia Richard; his former wife, Mildred Bourgeois; two brothers, Lloyd Bourgeois, and Al Bourgeois; three sisters, Hazel Veillon, Angela Doucet, and Mary Lou Bihm; and a grandson, William Douglas Bourgeois.
