Hugh William Andrus
CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Hugh William Andrus, age 57, who passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his residence in Carencro.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Andre Metrejean will officiate at the services.
Mr. Andrus was born June 3, 1956 in Opelousas, was a native of Opelousas and a resident of Carencro. Mr. Andrus was a graduate of the Law Enforcement Academy in 1996 and retired from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office in October 2012 after sixteen years of service. He was a parishioner of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire.
Survivors include his wife of thirty years, the former Michelle Breaux of Carencro; one daughter, Sarah Andrus of Carencro; four brothers, Alex Andrus, III and his wife, Connie, of Opelousas, Vance Andrus and his wife, Colleen, of Conifer, CO, Dr. Timothy G. Andrus and his wife, Bonnie, of Baton Rouge and Patrick Andrus and his wife, Katherine, of Annandale, VA; one sister, Jean Andrus Richards and her husband, William, of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Alex Andrus, II and the former, Mercedes McGee; and one nephew, Keith Andrus.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until service at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Keith Andrus may be made to Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance, 553 W. Uwchlan Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335.
Pallbearers will be Vance Andrus, Alex Andrus, II, Dr. Timothy Andrus, Patrick Andrus, William Richards and Kenneth Breaux.
