OPELOUSAS - A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel, for Ivan Ray. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Gary Schexneyder will officiate the service.

Ivan was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away at home, on March 27, 2013. Ivan was a member of the Elks Lodge of Opelousas, and the LA/TX fishing Rodeo. Ivan L. Ray "Jivin Ivan" Its with great sadness that we must say goodbye for now to our beloved father, grandfather, "Pop" and friend to many whom he cherished all of his life. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He was retired from the St. Landry School Board System after over 20 years of service; he was a math teacher at Opelousas High School. While in the army he defended his country in Vietnam. Ivan was also a very good cook completing in various cooking events and donated his time cooking for many fund raisers. Ivan was also a Master Carpenter who built many homes and remodeling many homes. Ivan greatest joy was drinking his Schlitz Beer with his family and friends. He was an avid reader.

Survivors include his daughter, Tonia Ray Ardoin and her husband, Chip of Opelousas, brother, Conrad Ray and wife, Betty of Opelousas, grandchild, Ily Madison Ardoin, one step grandchild, Gavin Ardoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michelle and Ily Martin Ray.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, March 29, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. An Elks Service will be at 6:30 pm on Friday evening. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
