Lawrence Bernard

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas for Lawrence Felix Bernard, age 82, who passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. in Church Point.
Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. Austin Leger will officiate at the services.
Mr. Bernard was a resident of Lawtell for forty years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Sonnier and her husband, Rodney, of Lawtell, Deborah Marks and her husband, Ricky, of Ville Platte, and Glenda Bernard of Lawtell; one brother, Leroy Pete Bernard and his wife, Rena, of Scott; four sisters, Rita Venable and her husband, Norris, of Church Point, Blanche Lyons and her husband, Carol, of Church Point, Elaine Marks and her husband, Yorick, of Opelousas, and Eva Grimes of Riverside, TX; and three sister-in-laws, Ruth Bernard, Wanda Bernard, and Helen Boss.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty two years, Irene Boss Bernard; his parents, Heribert Bernard and the former Adele Stelly; one infant sister, Blanche Bernard; and three brothers, Joseph Bernard, Yves Bernard, and Murphy Bernard.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home by Deacon Jerome Collins.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday.
