Samuel "Sam" Guidry

ARNAUDVILLE - Funeral services will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Sam Guidry, age 98, who passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 12:15 p.m. at his residence in Arnaudville.

Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Mausoleum in Arnaudville. Deacon Ken Arnaud, of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Guidry was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville, where he served as Chief of Police for 12 years. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and a great father and grandfather.

Survivors include three sons, Stanley Guidry, Sr. and wife, Jeanette, of Arnaudville, Carroll Guidry of Abbeville and Keith Guidry and wife, Rachel, of Arnaudville; two daughters, Anna Grace Dupuis and husband, Bob, of Hot Springs Village, AR and Jeanette Richard and husband, Paul, of Arnaudville; one brother, Raphael Guidry and wife, Nora, of Opelousas; two sisters, Rita "Lou" Patin of Baton Rouge and Lilly Guidry of Houma; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Bunice Hardy Guidry; his parents, Ulinor Guidry and the former Aurelia Taylor, both natives of Arnaudville; one daughter, Genevieve Guidry; one grandson, Stanley Guidry, Jr.; four brothers, Sidney Guidry, Claude Guidry, Fred Guidry and Lloyd Guidry; one half-sister, Odette Lanclos; And one half-brother, Leo "Neg" Taylor.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. Monday to service time on Monday in the funeral home.

The Guidry family would like to thank his caregiver, Lolita Benoit, and all who assisted in our time of need.
